Oscar L. Shoenfelt, III, graduated from Abilene Christian University with a B.A., summa cum laude with a 3.92 average (out of 4.0) in 1976.  He graduated from the Louisiana State University Law Center in 1979 and was a member of Phi Kappa Phi.  After graduating, he practiced with the New Orleans firm of Adams & Reese from 1979 to 1983 and handled medical malpractice and personal injury defense cases.  From 1983 to 1985, he was employed by the firm Watson, Blanche, Wilson & Posner in Baton Rouge, and represented  the Louisiana Hospital Association in medical malpractice cases.

Mr. Shoenfelt was a member of Moore, Walters, Shoenfelt & Thompson from 1985 to 1998 where he practiced exclusively in plaintiff’s medial malpractice, personal injury and sports law.  In 1998 he began his own firm devoted to representing injured persons in medical malpractice and personal injury cases as well as his list of sports clients. Mr. Shoenfelt stopped acting as a sports agent in 2005 to devote his practice to handling medical malpractice and personal injury clients.

Mr. Shoenfelt has been admitted to practice in all state courts in Louisiana, as well as in U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana; U.S. District Court, Western District of Louisiana; and, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Texas.

Mr. Shoenfelt has given lectures and presentations in the field of medical malpractice to both medical and legal organizations.  He has participated in “Medical Malpractice – The Plaintiff’s Perspective” for the Baton Rouge Bar Association (1990), and “Preparation for Testimony as a Medical Witness” for the Louisiana State Perinatal Association (1991).

He has given numerous speeches and presentations in the field of sports law, including: “The Sports Agent” for the Louisiana State University Law School, Sports Entertainment Law Society (1991), “Sports Negotiations” for Southern University Law School (1996) and “The Basketball Agent and Sports” for Southern University Law School (1997).
